Gas Technician Apprentice, Gas Technician , or Gas Technician II

Overview

The City of Lexington is seeking a Gas Technician Apprentice, Gas Technician I, or Gas Technician II to join our team of utility professionals. This member of the crew is responsible for semi-skilled and/or skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s Natural Gas facilities. While we will train entry level candidates, experience in the natural gas industry is a definite plus.

• Perform semi-skilled and/or skilled work in the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of the City’s Natural Gas facilities.

• Valid NC driver’s license and good driving record
• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• One year verifiable experience in common work situations of the occupational field (for entry level)
• Three years’ verifiable experience in common work situations of the occupational field (for higher level)
• Ability to work regularly and to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
• General knowledge of the use of common hand and power tools required in the work

Monday – Thursday 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM or Tuesday – Friday 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Paid bi-weekly. Outside work in all weather conditions. On‑call rotation.
