Job Summary
The ITS Electronic Tech Assistant will be responsible for installing network cabling, installing and activating network equipment, and installation of both minor & major network cabling projects, as well as building and equipping communication closets. In addition, this position is responsible for testing and monitoring fiber/copper circuits for functionality including analyzing, diagnosing, coordinating, and repairing networking/data issues. Mastering all test tools at our disposal to diagnose & troubleshoot, as well as coordinating repair with all affected parties.

Physical RequirementsMust be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher, must be able to reach overhead and use hand tools, must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds, must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods of time, must be able to distinguish wiring colors, must be able to push/pull cables, must be able to traverse campus while carrying or moving equipment in a reasonable amount of time, must be able to stand for long periods of time, ability to work in a sedentary position utilizing computer, mouse, keyboard, and phone for portions of the day, strong interpersonal skills required, self-motivation a plus, must have excellent customer service skills.
ShiftMonday-Friday (40 hrs/wk) Generally 7:30am-4:30pm;
Occasional overtime as needed;
Required to be in the on-call rotation, weeks vary depending on staffing.
Communications skills; including on-line communications methods, basic cable installation, termination, and testing skills.

Preferred Education/ExperienceAA and/or BICSI Apprentice Level Certification, previous related certification, or BICSI Apprentice Level Certification Perferred. A KY Drivers License is required.
