Join Mazzella Companies as a Crane Service Technician.
Responsibilities- Perform on-site repairs on overhead cranes and hoists at customer facilities as directed by the Service Supervisor or Service Manager.
- Perform planned maintenance and repairs on all types of crane and hoist systems.
- Respond to emergency breakdown call‑outs, including after‑hours and weekend availability.
- Conduct extensive on‑site electrical, electronic, mechanical, and structural troubleshooting to determine root cause of equipment malfunctions and failures, and execute necessary repairs using visual inspections and testing procedures.
- Maintain a basic understanding and working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and other relevant codes and regulations.
- Apply electrical theory for power and controls, and mechanical systems of cranes/hoists.
- Complete daily paperwork accurately and completely; time tickets, service reports, inspection reports, expense reports, and sales lead generation forms.
- Obtain customer signature on the daily service report after reviewing completed repairs.
- Maintain all company equipment and tools per manufacturer recommendations and certifications.
- Keep proper stock level of inventory and line stock items on the service vehicle.
- Maintain appropriate forms and literature on the service vehicle.
- Present a professional appearance and image at all times.
- Communicate regularly with the local office; call in at least once per day to the Service Supervisor.
- Promote excellent customer relationships through clear communication with customers and inter‑company personnel.
- Maintain Quality Assurance Standards.
- Collect, develop, and formalize information for proposals of all replacement and repair opportunities, forwarding them to the Service Supervisor or Service Manager.
- Keep training assignments current.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical school, crane training program, trade school, or military experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Industrial HVAC controls and automation experience.
- Previous overhead crane service experience preferred but not required.
- Willingness to continue education in the crane industry.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Heavy lifting/pulling ability (minimum 75 lbs.).
- Ability to work at heights greater than six feet.
- Service technician schedule is 40 hours per week; must be able to work varied hours, overtime, and on‑call as required.
- Minimal travel required.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills.
- Excellent math skills and PC literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, disciplined, and capable of multitasking.
- Must successfully complete a criminal background check, physical, drug screen, and E‑verify.
