Physical RequirementsMust be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher, lift and carry 30 pounds, work in tight spaces for extended periods, distinguish colors, traverse campus while moving equipment, and sit or stand for long periods.
ShiftMonday–Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm with occasional overtime as needed.
Job SummaryInfrastructure Operations is seeking an ITS Electronic Technician Associate. This entry‑level position will learn and develop skills necessary to assist other Infrastructure Operations staff in the performance of their duties. Typical activities include installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment and fiber/copper cabling to support the 24/7 operation of telecommunications services for all University and UK Health Care departments. Training in competencies and skills is provided through on‑the‑job, classroom, and related industry programs.
Ideal candidates will possess a strong work ethic, a commitment to service, and a focus on continuous improvement in a professional environment.
- Install, maintain, and repair electronic equipment and fiber/copper cabling.
- Assist infrastructure staff with telecommunications service support.
- Document work accurately and keep detailed records.
- Participate in on‑the‑job, classroom, and industry training programs.
- Perform tasks that require manual dexterity and climbing ladders.
- Adhere to safety and workplace policies, including tobacco‑free campus rules.
- Basic math and science skills.
- Color discrimination ability.
- Manual dexterity for fine motor tasks.
- Basic reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Base knowledge of Ethernet and/or fiber troubleshooting procedures.
- Critical thinking, problem analysis, and accurate documentation.
- Physical ability to climb ladders and carry 30 pounds.
