Position Description

The Research Assistant II in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Dibra Lab investigates the mechanisms of immune evasion in immunotherapy-resistant cancers, focusing on how TP53 alterations in breast and liver tumors disrupt immune surveillance and promote tumor persistence. The candidate should be able to conduct experiments and laboratory analysis following clearly defined procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform experimental procedures, record, and consolidate data.
  • Collect tissues and culture samples and conduct a variety of assays and experimental tests.
  • Prepare materials for faculty and staff research reports.
  • Present data at lab meeting, monthly research in progress.
  • Calibrate and operate a variety of laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare line culture media for the production, and cell proliferation.
  • Assess the cytotoxicity of the drug in vitro against cancer cell lines.
  • May perform routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals, including the performance of surgical procedures or administration of drugs.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Work with animals. Some genetics background. Any coding experience is highly preferred.
  • Background in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Psychology or biomedical field and have related undergraduate research experience.
Competencies
  • Use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in use of computers, or new technologies.
  • Sterile technique/cell culture experience.
  • Mouse handling experience.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Ability to perform drug dilutions, seed cell at different densities.
Compensation

Will be commensurate to candidate experience.
