Job Description

We are hiring a Veterinary Practice Manager to assist in pre‑opening tasks in preparation for the grand opening in May 2026. This role offers an opportunity to shape a new facility and integrate your vision with our mission.

Pre‑opening Responsibilities And Opportunities

  • Equipment ordering and tracking

  • Support staff interviewing, hiring, and training in preparation for the grand opening

To be successful as a veterinary practice manager: you should be patient, detail‑oriented, and capable of multitasking. You must communicate effectively with pet owners and veterinary staff, and demonstrate exceptional management, organizational, and customer service skills.

General Practice Manager Duties
  • Make informal recommendations to the veterinary regional manager regarding staffing needs, advancement, re‑assignments, hours of work or other status changes affecting receptionists.
  • Prepare employee work schedules and manage the office staff.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training, advise employees of performance requirements, discuss corrective measures, and prepare appraisals.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and, if necessary, terminate staff, including setting salaries and providing job descriptions.
  • Market the hospital to prospective customers and the veterinary community through local and regional events.
  • Resolve informal employee complaints and explain personnel policies and procedures while maintaining effective communication.
  • Obtain information from owners, give instructions for scheduling appointments, and relay practitioner orders concerning animal care and treatment.
  • Answer telephone calls politely and professionally.
  • Address pet owners' complaints promptly and efficiently.
  • Show unbiased judgment when managing people and make fair recommendations regarding personnel issues and disciplinary action.
  • Establish an inventory control system to ensure adequate stocks, review prices for all products, and manage controlled drugs.
  • Implement and enforce hospital policies, including DEA/Controlled Substances and OSHA.
  • Ensure payroll is completed accurately and timely.
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors for optimal support.
  • Promptly notify veterinary staff of emergency cases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Experienced or Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) with at least 1 year of management experience (or 3+ years veterinary experience).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and motivation skills with the ability to guide a team.
  • Ability to work well with all team members and support the hospital, doctors, and practice philosophy.
  • Compassionate, calm, team‑player.
  • Strong communication skills and multitasking ability.
  • Highly organized with computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of hospital procedures for assembling patient records and recording veterinary orders.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology for accurate data entry.
  • Self‑starter with a desire to advance knowledge and skillset.
  • Open availability with flexibility to adjust hours based on hospital needs.
