No experience required. - Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit (TWP), Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing and American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider valid for at least 6 months after employment date
- Physical Requirements: The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods; potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
- Shift: Must be able to work three 12-hour NIGHT shifts, 7PM-7:30AM, 36 hours per week; weekend and holiday work may be required.
The 6.200 Acute / Progressive unit (universal beds) on the 6th floor, Tower 220, is part of the Trauma Service Line. RNs on 6.200 UB care for acute to progressive Trauma patients. Primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient-centered care which includes assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care;
ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations. The environment supports collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to increase communication and improve patient outcomes, using the nursing process in conjunction with a comprehensive patient-centered plan of care.
The ideal candidate will have: knowledge of Maslow s eight Basic Human Needs and the priority within Gordon s Functional Health Patterns Framework as well as Swanson s Caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation skills and internet literacy; professional and respectful communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills;
the ability to advocate for patients and families; enjoy working in a team environment with open, honest communication; and the ability to work both independently and in a team with exceptional technical skills.
