Required License/Registration/CertificationRegistered Nurse and American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider;
Certified in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) and Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Fetal Monitoring Certification within 6 months of hire; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor Certification within 1 year of hire.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, sit for long periods; may be exposed to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, sharp instruments.
ShiftThree 12‑hour shifts per week from 7 pm until 7:30 am; weekend and holiday work required.
Job SummaryThe fetal monitoring nurse is a member of the collaborative care team who is responsible for providing continuous vigilance and tele‑nursing focused on early prevention/intervention of abnormal fetal heart rate tracings within the Birthing Center to decrease fetal/neonatal morbidity and mortality. The role involves patient advocacy, proactive continuous monitoring, prevention, evidence‑based care, telecommunication, clinical decision support, humane, compassionate ethical care.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities- Knowledge of Maslow’s eight Basic Human Needs and priority within Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns Framework and Swanson’s Caring model.
- Superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills.
- Basic computer navigation skills and working knowledge of the internet.
