Summary
2H ICU is a 12-bed Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care Unit. Primarily serving adult and geriatric post-op cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries (CABG, Valve Replacement/Repair, TAVR, Bronch/Thor, and other thoracic and vascular surgeries). The unit also cares for general surgery post-op requiring intensive care, pre and post critical cardiac cath lab interventions, post cardiac arrest, sepsis, and complex care ICU patients. 2H ICU provides care for patients on multiple devices such as the Arctic Sun (hypothermia protocol), ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CVVHD/CRRT.

Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse (RN) implements professional nursing practice centered on the patient as a whole person and the creation of a caring environment focused on healing and wellness.
Responsibilities- exemplify compassionate care and respect for human dignity and the uniqueness of each individual.
- Practice nursing based on evidence and current research, hospital and department policies and procedures, regulatory standards, and professional guidelines.
- Use clinical judgment incorporating the four phases of the nursing process, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Promote nursing excellence through collaborative relationships among nursing staff and other disciplines.
- Serve as an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy, supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.
- Coordinate and provide direct patient care activities on the unit, including nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities; provide patient and family-centered education; and care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable.
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- Those with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor's degree program and must achieve the degree within 5 years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS); ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department.
