Position: Radiation Oncology APRN (3984) RADIATION ONCOLOGY CHI SJH OFFICE

Overview

SUMMARY: The Nurse Practitioner functions as a member of the radiation oncology specialty by providing medical care in a collaborative joint practice with radiation oncology physicians; providing comprehensive care to acute or chronically ill patients in the office setting; serves as a liaison between physicians and staff to communicate and coordinate activities and assure quality patient care; provides and coordinates patient care after their course of radiation therapy;

obtaining historical/physical data on patients; assisting in management of treatment plans, interpreting, and integrating findings to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; providing assistance to assure quality patient care; writes & refills prescriptions as indicated; maintains positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors, and fellow employees and practices under supervision and guidance of the physician.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical care in collaboration with radiation oncology physicians in the office setting.
  • Serve as a liaison between physicians and staff to communicate and coordinate activities and assure quality patient care.
  • Provide and coordinate patient care after their course of radiation therapy.
  • Obtain historical and physical data on patients; assist in management of treatment plans; interpret and integrate findings to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Provide assistance to assure quality patient care; write and refill prescriptions as indicated.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors, and fellow employees; practice under supervision and guidance of the physician.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing program and a school of graduate nursing at Master’s degree level.
  • Current licensure by the Kentucky state board of nursing in good standing.
  • Healthcare provider CPR certification required.
Physical Guidelines
  • Ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day.
  • Lift, move and transport patients, equipment, and supplies.
  • Motor coordination and manual dexterity; ability to communicate effectively; ability to read and understand orders; visual acuity.
