Nurse Clinical​/PRN Pool​/On-Call​/UKHC

Position Summary

University of Kentucky – Nurse Clinical / Per Diem / OR Perioperative – Lexington, KY.

• Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered nursing care including assessment, documentation, planning, implementation, teaching, and evaluation of care plans.
• Deliver direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Train and delegate duties to nursing care technicians (assistants).
• Adhere to University policies, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to enhance communication and patient outcomes.

• Active Kentucky RN license or equivalent (compact, provisional, or temporary). AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months.
• Minimum 18 months of nursing experience or 1 year of RN experience with BSN.
• Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns, and Swanson’s Caring model.
• Proficient in basic computer navigation and internet use.
• Excellent communication, organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills.
• Ability to lift 50–100 pounds and stand/walk/sit for extended periods; exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and sharp instruments.
• Fluent in English; meets physical requirements.

• On‑call per diem pool: 216 hours per 6‑week schedule (36 hrs/week). Minimum 48 weekend hours.
• Level III – $70/hr;
  Level IV – $75/hr (night shifts).
• Minimum work requirement 96 hours per 6 weeks (average 16 hrs/week); additional hours increase pay.
