University of Kentucky – Albert
B. Chandler Hospital is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology RN to support neuro-interventional, vascular, and CT/ultrasound-guided procedures within a high-acuity IR department. The IR RN will assist physicians throughout the full procedural workflow, including patient assessment, sedation administration, scrubbing as first assist, circulating, filming, and documenting exams in EPIC.
This role requires strong technical competency, experience with advanced imaging equipment, and the ability to support complex interventional procedures. Candidates must hold ARRT(R) and a Kentucky Radiation Operator’s License prior to starting.
Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform initial assessments and develop patient care plans
Assist physicians with interventional neuro, vascular, and CT/US-guided procedures
Scrub as first assist, circulate, film, and charge exams in EPIC
Administer medications and monitor patient response
Review labs, medical history, and imaging requirements
Maintain sterile technique and support radiation safety protocols
Operate Siemens single-plane and bi-plane systems and McKesson PACS
Provide patient education and post-procedure instructions
Maintain accurate documentation and uphold HIPAA standards
Participate in call rotation (1–2 call shifts/week; 1 weekend every 6 weeks)
Perform additional duties as assigned
Shift: Day Shift Hours: 4×10s — 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Call:
1–2 call shifts per week
1 weekend every 6 weeks Weekends/Holidays: As required by call rotation
Active Registered Nurse license for the state of practice
ARRT(R) required
RTR or RTRVI required
Kentucky Radiation Operator’s License required before start
BLS
1–3 years of Interventional Radiology experience preferred
Experience with VIR procedures
EPIC experience preferred
Experience with Siemens single-plane and bi-plane equipment preferred
TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)
Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations)
Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age
Travel RN Hourly Pay: $50 Meals: $476 Housing: $826 Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,302 Distance Requirement: Must live 75+ miles from facility
