Kentucky Black Writers Collaborative Associate
Part-Time (20 hours/wk)
Non-Exempt
Salary/Wages: $16-18/hour with some benefits
Job Location: Primarily on-site
The KBWC Associate assists the KBWC Coordinator in developing and implementing programming, events, and outreach throughout the year that support and promote Kentucky's Black writers, published and unpublished.

About the Center: Since 1992, the non-profit Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning has been meeting the educational and artistic needs of Lexington, Kentucky. Located in a former Carnegie Library building, the center seeks “to empower people to explore and express their voices” through writing, reading, and the arts. The Center serves thousands of Kentuckians annually with classes for lifelong learners;
unique tutoring and mentoring programs; accessible community space, and other imaginative learning opportunities.
- Assist the KBWC Coordinator in the development and implementation of programming throughout the year (e.g., co‑facilitating KBWC Writing Group)
- Serve as host at KBWC events when assigned
- Attend all KBWC events (including a few on weekends) and CCLL events when assigned (e.g., Hall of Fame)
- Do community outreach to create new opportunities and encourage program growth
- Work with the Marketing Department to publicize upcoming events/programs and for website updates
- Assist KBWC Coordinator with the KBWC newsletter
- Work with KBWC members re: upcoming events and general knowledge of the KBWC
- Represent the KBWC and the Carnegie Center to the general public in a positive light
- Other relevant duties as assigned
- $15 monthly wireless stipend
- Unlimited free Carnegie Center classes/seminars outside of scheduled work hours

Position Requirements- Relevant experience/education background
- Strong writing skills required
- MS Office, Google Suite, basic tech skills, Zoom, etc. and general comfort with technology
- Ability to travel to off‑sites and transport tabling and event materials if needed
- Knowledge of Black Kentucky writers required
- Strong skills in networking, record‑keeping, and with database experience preferred
