SUMMARY:

The PPA Communications Manager supports PPA’s marketing and communications efforts, promoting the organization’s contributions to the procurement community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Own the execution of PPA’s marketing and membership communications across email and social channels, operating independently within established goals, workflows, and brand standards.
  • Plan, draft, build, and deploy CRM-driven communications using PPA’s CRM (Hub Spot) and AMS platforms, exercising sound judgment to align messaging with lifecycle stages, segmentation logic, and AMS-confirmed membership status.
  • Establish and maintain disciplined governance over marketing contact lists, segmentation rules, and suppression logic to protect data integrity, targeting accuracy, and member experience.
  • Lead the planning and execution of PPA’s social media presence, proactively shaping content that supports membership growth, event participation, education visibility, and partner and sponsor engagement.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage an integrated communications calendar, balancing competing priorities and deadlines across email, social media, newsletters, announcements, press releases, and event communications.
  • Proactively support event marketing and communications efforts end-to-end, including campaign planning, promotional execution, messaging coordination, and post-event follow-up, with minimal direction.
  • Execute and maintain CRM-based communications tied to membership, sponsorship, and event workflows, collaborating with internal stakeholders while independently managing day-to-day execution.
  • Create, edit, and refine communications assets (e.g., event scripts, presentations, supporting materials) using approved templates and brand standards, and improve them over time.
  • Participate in the development of PPA education, membership, cooperative, and marketing resources.
  • Monitor and interpret email and social performance metrics, identify trends and gaps, and independently recommend and implement improvements to increase engagement and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to support onsite or event-related communications needs, including video and photography, as required.
  • Operate as a trusted individual contributor who takes ownership of assigned functions while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor and other staff to ensure information flow and adherence to goals, policies, budget, and timelines.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience
  • 3-4 years of professional experience communications, marketing or related field.
  • Preferred:
    Experience at a start-up organization.
  • Preferred:
    Basic understanding of procurement.
  • Demonstrated experience owning CRM-driven communications (Hub Spot strongly preferred), including segmentation, workflow-based messaging, and performance tracking.
  • Qualifications
  • Experience with email building, tracking, and reporting platforms.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Time management skills; the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and projects.
