Shipping Coordinator

Position Summary

The Shipping Coordinator oversees all outbound logistics activities within a fast paced sheet metal manufacturing facility. This role supports the Materials team by ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient shipment of finished goods, components, and customer orders while maintaining compliance with internal processes and external regulations. The Shipping Coordinator plays a key role in inventory accuracy, communication with carriers, and ensuring exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

• Coordinate all daily outbound shipments, including LTL, parcel, freight, and customer pickup orders.
• Generate shipping documentation (BOLs, packing lists, labels, export documents as needed).
• Schedule carriers and manage pickup times to support production flow and customer expectations.
• Ensure all loads are packaged, tagged, and secured properly in compliance with company and customer requirements.
• Track and confirm shipment delivery status; proactively resolve delays or discrepancies.

• Collaborate with the Materials team to align shipping activities with production schedules and inventory needs.
• Assist with cycle counts, inventory transfers, and material transaction accuracy as required.
• Maintain accurate shipping records in the ERP system and support data integrity for materials planning.
• Communicate inventory or material shortages impacting shipments in a timely manner.

• Verify that products meet quality standards and customer specifications before shipping.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with ISO/AS quality requirements (if applicable).
• Ensure all shipping processes follow safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.

• Partner with Production Supervisors, Purchasing, and Customer Service to prioritize urgent orders and special shipments.
• Provide shipping status updates to internal teams and support customer communication as needed.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline workflow.

• 2+ years of experience in shipping, logistics, warehouse, or materials coordination (manufacturing preferred).
• Familiarity with freight scheduling, LTL carriers, and standard shipping practices.
• Experience using an ERP or MRP system for inventory and shipping transactions.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and documentation skills.
• Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment (or willingness to be trained).
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in a sheet metal or fabrication environment.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts.
• Understanding of export compliance and shipping regulations.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand/move for extended periods.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.

• Fast paced production environment.
• Daily interaction with Materials, Production, Quality, and Logistics partners.
