Overview

The Clinical Workforce Manager serves as the operational and clinical leader for the Supplemental Staffing Team (SST), a system-wide float pool supporting multiple hospitals and service lines. This role provides daily oversight of clinical practice, staff performance, timekeeping, compliance, and frontline issue resolution. The CWM ensures consistent standards, high-quality clinical care, and efficient daily operations while advancing the strategic objectives of the SST program.

This position reports directly to the SST Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership:
    Manage daily clinical operations of the Supplemental Staffing Team in collaboration with the SST Director of Nursing.
  • Staff support:
    Serve as first-line leadership for staff questions, workflow concerns, and general support.
  • Timekeeping and payroll:
    Review and correct timecards, monitor attendance concerns, and ensure accurate timekeeping and payroll processing in collaboration with Director.
  • Attendance and compliance:
    Maintain records of call-outs, evaluate attendance metrics, and confirm compliance with established policies.
  • Clinical Oversight & Quality:
    Perform regular chart audits to evaluate documentation accuracy and compliance with clinical standards; analyze performance trends, identify improvement opportunities, and provide staff coaching; participate in safety assessments, incident reviews, and quality improvement initiatives; ensure adherence to organizational policies, evidence-based practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Staff Performance & Discipline:
    Regularly review performance to include clinical care and code of conduct, provide feedback, and support corrective measures, including participating in disciplinary processes with Director of Nursing and HR when necessary.
  • Engagement & Retention:
    Engage in weekly sessions with the Director of Nursing to monitor operations and ensure staff performance aligns with organizational standards; perform routine rounding at facilities across the system; engage with SST nurses to foster morale and address concerns; facilitate structured onboarding check-ins with new hires at key intervals.
  • Facility Liaison & Issue Resolution:
    Serve as a primary contact for nurse managers and nursing supervisors regarding SST staff concerns or issues; respond promptly to facility-reported concerns and escalate to SST Director as required; perform site visits to provide coaching and resolve issues in real-time; report emerging trends and significant concerns to the Director in a timely manner.
  • Performance Reviews & Staff Development:
    Collect and organize data for annual and interim evaluations; prepare draft performance reviews and facilitate review meetings; support professional development with goal setting, planning, and progress tracking; partner with the SST Educator to identify skill gaps and coordinate training needs.
  • Compliance, Orientation & Credential Tracking:
    Oversee completion of orientation requirements and competency checklists, in collaboration with the SST educator; monitor upcoming expirations for licenses, certifications, and mandatory education; ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Program Support & Administrative Duties:
    Assist the SST Director with data collection, reporting, and operational analysis; contribute to policy development, workflow optimization, and process improvement initiatives; assist with strategic projects such as reducing traveler utilization, expanding staffing models, and planning for specialty workforce needs. Maintain organized documentation and record-keeping systems essential to SST operations.
Qualifications Education

Current RN license in Kentucky or WV (or compact state).

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required or plan to obtain within 3 years.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, required.
  • Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field, preferred.
  • BLS upon hire.
Minimum Work Experience

A minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or nurse leadership experience, preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in float pool, travel nursing, or multi-site staffing models.
  • Familiarity with API, or equivalent scheduling/timekeeping tools.
