Job SummaryThe Director of Safety Management and Planning will oversee and assure continuous regulatory readiness for UK Health Care Enterprise. This individual will direct, manage, and coordinate all activities related to environmental safety and life safety, encompassing environmental scanning, assessment, planning, and execution of plans. The role evaluates, creates, develops, and implements policies, guidelines, procedures, and programs to ensure a safe and healthy patient care environment for staff, faculty, students, patients, and visitors.
Responsible for all aspects of the hospital's inpatient and ambulatory environmental safety programs—including hazardous waste management (chemical, radioactive, and regulated medical waste) and emergency management/preparedness— and supervises the resolution of all safety‑related incidents involving employees, visitors, patients, or situations posing a threat to the hospital’s buildings and/or equipment, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all environmental safety programs (hazardous waste management, etc.).
- Develop and implement policies, guidelines, procedures, and programs for safe patient care environments.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Supervise resolution of safety incidents affecting employees, visitors, patients, and facility integrity.
- Coordinate emergency management and preparedness activities.
- Lead and manage safety‑related activities and staff.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience.
- Certified Safety Professional certification preferred.
- Experience ensuring compliance with regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission, OSHA, and related agencies.
