Southeast Regional Waste Business Development Leader

OverviewThis business development position will drive the growth of HDR’s solid waste program throughout the Southeast. The role involves coordinating marketing strategy, leading pursuit teams, and supporting strategic planning and growth initiatives.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with Sector and Practice Leadership to ensure local Business Development Leaders and Waste Sector Leads identify market opportunities and leverage all service lines.
- Identify and implement strategic growth plans for the region.
- Coordinate with Regional RBG Directors, Practice Leaders, and local areas to develop a focused team for market development and key client opportunities.
- Track market changes, maintain reputation, and attend state/regional waste conferences.
- Develop and track client development plans.
- Serve as Manager for key clients.
- Maintain knowledge of client needs, market trends, and opportunity assessments.
- Build relationships with strategic teaming partners, including general contractors.
- Identify key talent in the waste market and assist with recruitment and retention.
- Leverage HDR resources for cross‑sector collaboration on targeted clients.
- Collaborate with Waste Sector Leadership and develop market strategies and initiatives.
- Work with local leadership to identify and grow market opportunities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
- Professional or engineering registration, or related technical experience.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience.
- Self‑starter with a history of project completion with limited oversight.
- Deep knowledge of the A/E/C industry’s procurement standards.
- Ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Ability to build a network of clients and industry partners.
- Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
- Strong financial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Experience growing programs in highly competitive markets.
- Experience winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry.
- Experience writing compelling content from technical staff input.
