Physical RequirementsLifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and possibly over 50lbs; standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs; repetitive motion.
Work is performed in assigned zone locations and employee may occasionally be exposed to elements, weather, and other non-office or inside building type conditions.
ShiftEvening or night shift work schedule: 9:30 pm – 6:00 am (Monday-Friday).
Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors and may include some day(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.
Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Custodial Services Manager and Custodial Superintendents, the Floor Technician demonstrates expertise in making floors look pristine and contributes to the overall maintenance and appeal of the UK Campus Buildings, Labs, Classrooms, etc., which requires:
Stripping, waxing, and burnishing floors with minimal to no assistance;
Operating various types and pieces of equipment necessary to effectively perform job functions relating to buffing; extracting; wet and dry vacuuming; pressure washing; scrubbing; etc., and Maintaining floor care equipment. In addition, the Floor Technician performs routine mopping (dry and damp), scrubbing, shining, buffing and burnishing on hard surface floors and stairwells;
Vacuuming, shampooing, bonneting, and extracting carpets, stairwells, and upholstery;
Moving large furniture and objects; and presenting a clean environment to faculty, students, staff and visitors.
