Job Summary

The University of Kentucky, Office of the Vice President for Student Success is currently seeking a Division Payroll Specialist to assist with human resources and payroll support. This position will report to the Lead Payroll Specialist in the Student Success Business Office, which serves as the centralized and primary business and human resource hub for the more than 400 staff employees and 1,500+ student employees in the Office for Student Success.

Primary job responsibilities will include: creating hiring proposals and on-boarding new employees; off-boarding staff and students; processing payroll actions; reviewing and maintaining payroll data; creating and reviewing reports associated with employee compensation; and coordinating with various University entities to ensure payroll requests are processed in a timely and accurate manner. The Division Payroll Specialist will primarily be responsible for all payroll support within their assigned units, but will work as part of the Payroll Team, collaborating to stay abreast of human resource and payroll policy updates, assisting in the fulfillment of team goals, and cover responsibilities of other colleagues, as needed.

The ideal candidate will be adaptable to changes and have exceptional customer service orientation with strong verbal and written communication, listening, problem-solving, time management, and decision-making skills. We are seeking an individual who is motivated with strong interpersonal skills and can build strong working relationships with individuals and groups. This individual must work well independently and within a team environment, and possess strong technical skills in SAP and Excel.

Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision-making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a community of learners in achieving success.

Position will primarily work normal business hours 8:00 a.m-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, and is eligible to be considered for a hybrid work schedule.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, SAP, and knowledge of UK business regulations and policies.
