Overview
Personal Care Assistant – $18/hr
We are seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support a client, a warm and easygoing individual living independently with her 14-year-old husky. This role is ideal for someone compassionate, active, and dependable who shares our core values of respect, kindness, empathy, community, and care.
About Leslie And Her Home- Lives alone on the main level of a clean, lived-in home (no bug infestations).
- Has a friendly 14-year-old husky, so you must be comfortable around dogs.
- Mobility is generally good, but she walks slowly and may get dizzy; she sometimes holds onto furniture or walls when walking.
- History of low blood pressure and prior fainting, so she is considered a fall risk and needs calm, attentive monitoring.
- Has PTSD related to past experiences and attends therapy.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8:00am to 2:00pm
- Provide companionship and engagement: conversation, light activities, short walks as tolerated, and supportive presence.
- Transportation using your own vehicle to therapy appointments and errands (mileage or gas reimbursement can be discussed).
- Light housekeeping to maintain a safe, tidy environment (dishes, laundry, simple organizing).
- Errands such as grocery shopping, pharmacy runs, and basic household needs.
- Monitoring for dizziness, near falls, or changes in how she feels, and responding calmly and promptly.
- Occasional shower assistance and support with personal care as needed, always preserving dignity and privacy.
- Gentle support and reassurance on difficult PTSD days, respecting boundaries and following her preferences.
Client does not want to sit around all day; she is looking for someone who is active, enjoys moving, and can help her stay engaged at a safe pace. The position is generally low stress and “easier” physically (no heavy lifting), but requires alertness, reliability, and emotional maturity.
Our Values in Action- Respect:
Honor independence, choices, routines, and privacy at all times. - Kindness:
Speak gently, use patience, and show genuine care in every interaction. - Empathy:
Notice how she is feeling, emotionally and physically, and adjust your approach to meet her where she is. - Community:
Support her connection to appointments, neighbors, family, and meaningful activities. - Care:
Prioritize safety, comfort, and quality of life in every decision you make on the job.
- Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license for transportation to appointments and errands.
- Comfortable with a senior dog in the home.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Prior caregiving or companion experience is preferred but not required; the right attitude and alignment with our values are essential.
Compensation: $18 per hour.
