RESPEC has an opening for a temporary part-time mining engineering intern in the Mining & Energy Division in the Lexington, KY office for Summer 2026. The intern will be expected to work 40 hours a week during the summer.

Job Description

Primary activities for this position include assisting in projects that involve geologic and reserves modeling, mine planning, environmental engineering, and permitting. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of experienced engineering and geological staff in these areas.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Must be working toward a bachelor of science or advanced degree in geological, mechanical, mining, civil engineering, or related field
  • Experience and/or education using AutoCAD, Intelli

    CAD, Carlson software, Surpac, or other mine planning software
  • Strong computer skills, especially in using spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills to effectively working in teams
  • Flexibility to work on various projects simultaneously.
Additional Information

Compensation: Hourly wage depends on education and experience. Typical salary range for this position is $21 to $25 per hour, plus statutory insurance requirements.
