Associate Traffic Engineer (Traffic Engineering-UNCLASSIFIED)- EXTENDED SALARY
The minimum salary is $61,954.88 annually
.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

Pay Grade: 522.
GENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe purpose of this classification is to research and analyze traffic engineering issues and use computer programs and tools to make judgements regarding conditions and locations of traffic related items while adhering to applicable regulations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field.
- Two (2) years of related experience.
- Experience cannot be substituted for the educational requirement.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification may be substituted for the experience requirement, for those with no related engineering experience.
- Designs and reviews layouts for various traffic/street related matters.
- Issues permits including lane blockage and dumpster.
- Marks streetlight locations and designs pavement marking layouts.
- Takes calls and complaints; attends meetings representing the division.
- Reviews traffic conditions in the field.
- Researches and/or applies regulations to traffic problems.
- Creates work orders for installment and marking; creates petitions for traffic calming or parking requests.
- Works to assist in the development, design, and review of traffic operation improvements within Lexington’s transportation infrastructure and computing systems.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
- Valid Kentucky Driver's License.
- May be subject to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
