This position is a senior-level engineering role within a generation and transmission utility provider, offering technical leadership on transmission line design and project management. You'll play a vital role in delivering safe, affordable, and sustainable energy to communities, while mentoring junior engineers and guiding contractors.
What You’ll Be Doing- Lead the design of transmission lines using PLS-CADD and RUS standards.
- Develop material specs for structures, conductors, and hardware.
- Prepare construction specs, contracts, and stringing charts.
- Lead siting processes and evaluate phasing, grounding, corona effects, and audible noise.
- Support multiple complex projects simultaneously; manage scope, budget, and schedule.
- Provide guidance and technical support to internal teams and contractors.
- Serve as a technical representative in meetings with vendors, members, and agencies.
- Develop and finalize reports, estimates, and project documentation.
- Create and implement engineering standards; ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, ANSI, IEEE, and other codes.
- Contribute to long- and short-term planning for transmission engineering initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET‑accredited program required)
- PE license in Kentucky preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, ideally in transmission design and utility environments
- Strong project management capabilities and ability to oversee multiple initiatives
- Advanced knowledge of line design tools (e.g., PLS‑CADD)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and common business applications
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage and mentor engineers and technical staff
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements (RUS, NEC, NESC, etc.)
- Comfortable representing the organization in technical and public settings
