Robotics Automation Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a Robotics & Automation Systems Specialist to support System 2, a fully automated production system utilizing three FANUC robots. The role involves overseeing the technical performance of the automation cell and supporting controls/equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation. This includes executing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, implementing continuous improvements, and actively supporting plant maintenance initiatives. The Specialist will collaborate closely with the Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams to reduce downtime, enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and strengthen long-term equipment health through the use of eMaint for planning, executing, and documenting work.

• Own the day-to-day technical performance of the automation cell and supporting controls/equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance and troubleshoot to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations to reduce downtime and improve OEE.
• Strengthen long-term equipment health using eMaint for planning, executing, and documenting work.
• Support plant maintenance initiatives and drive continuous improvement efforts.

• Experience with FANUC robots, including fault recovery, I/O, backups, mastering concepts, and frames/TCP fundamentals.
• Proficiency in basic program edits for FANUC robots.
• PLC/HMI programming and troubleshooting, with exposure to Allen‑Bradley, Automation Direct, or similar systems.
• Understanding of industrial networking fundamentals such as Ether Net/IP.
• Experience in improving OEE, MTBF/MTTR, and reducing repeat downtime through reliability and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in building and maintaining eMaint asset records, PM templates, and spare parts/BOMs.

• Experience with vision systems, servo motion, and conveyor integration.
• Comfortable generating basic eMaint reports such as PM compliance, downtime trends, and work order history to support reliability improvements.

This position is based on the plant floor and requires working the first shift, Monday through Friday, averaging 45-50 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lexington, KY.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Lexington, KY.
