General DescriptionThe purpose of this classification is to manage public infrastructure projects by performing advanced-level engineering duties that protect the welfare of the public and the environment for capital, storm and sanitary sewer, residential, and/or commercial development and construction, from conception to completion. This position is located in the wastewater treatment plant engineering group. LFUCG has two wastewater treatment plants, both of which are rated for approximately 30 million gallons per day average daily flow.
Minimum Requirements- Valid Kentucky Professional Engineer License
- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field
- Six years of engineering experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
- Ability to write technical reports and/or use of AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software is preferred but not required
- Manages major projects involving preparation, review, and supervision of designs, specifications, plans, contracts, applications, estimates, and reports involved in the construction and operation of a wide variety of civil engineering work required at LFUCG's two wastewater treatment plants
- Assists the wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance groups with operational reviews, management of record documents, and other duties as needed
- Performs field surveys, inspections, investigations, and/or evaluations
- Manages project funding, grants, invoices, and payments
- Prepares for and attends Committee, Commission, Council, and other related meetings
- Maintains communication with all internal and external stakeholders and responds to all requests and inquiries
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of subordinates and/or contractors
- Performs related work as assigned
- Valid Kentucky Professional Engineer License
- Those with an equivalent from another State must obtain a Kentucky Professional Engineer License within six months of employment as a condition for permanent appointment
- May be subject to weekends, holidays, and callback duty
- All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16
- In accordance with CAO Policy 23R "Acquisition of Real Property From Property Owners under Certain Notices and/or Orders," no employee who works in a division with regulatory or civil enforcement authority over real property located in Fayette County shall acquire an interest in real property in Fayette County with any outstanding citation, notice or order from the Division in which he or she works regardless of whether the citation, notice, or order was issued by the employee or someone else in the division.
This policy extends to immediate family members and the commissioner of the Department in which the identified employee is employed. Employees may be required to disclose all real property owned by them and their immediate family members. Property and business ownership exemptions may apply.
