The UK Libraries Special Collections Research Center seeks applications from undergraduate students for internships in the Learning Lab. The Learning Lab promotes student research, scholarship, and more fully integrates Special Collections and primary source materials into the teaching and research mission of the University.
Interns will be paired with unprocessed archival collections and taught how to arrange and describe rare or unique collections in their area of research interest, while enhancing access through the production of guides, exhibits, or transcriptions. In addition, interns will create a research project based on their collection and disseminate their research through conference presentations or exhibits. This final project may be designed to dovetail with a required capstone or other academic requirement.
Students may also earn up to three credit hours per semester through EXP 396.

Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesThe student should have attention to detail, writing, and editing skills, and the ability to follow department procedures and policies and to work independently. It is expected that the student assistant will maintain a regular work schedule and must respect the intrinsic value of archival materials.
