Job Description
Transylvania University ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).), a top-tier, independent, residential liberal arts college in Lexington, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics. This is a full-time, two-year, non-tenure-track position, teaching in-person classes, beginning August 27, 2026. To that end, we seek to attract a diverse faculty skilled in the scholarship of teaching, research, and mentorship of students from a variety of backgrounds.
The mathematics program is an exclusively undergraduate program that emphasizes innovative, hands‑on teaching in small class settings. The teaching load consists of three courses per term, plus one short-term course in May (3-3-1). We are interested in candidates with the ability to teach a range of courses such as Precalculus, Calculus I and II, Elementary Statistics, Contemporary Mathematics (non‑majors), as well as a potential elective in their specialty.
QualificationsA Ph.D. or nearly completed Ph.D. is required along with some college level teaching experience. All specializations are welcome to apply.
