Job Summary

This non-tenure-track Lecturer position focuses on teaching and shaping the Agricultural Ecosystem Sciences undergraduate program. The role includes approximately 70% instruction, 25% administration, and 5% service. The position begins July 1 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Teach all AES-specific courses:
    Introduction, Field Experience, Research Experience and Experiential Learning, Capstone.
  • Serve as a section instructor for Issues in Agriculture, Food, and Environment.
  • Develop two online asynchronous courses and teach two Plant & Soil Science courses within the area of expertise.
  • Assist the Director of Undergraduate Studies (first year) and later serve as Director, leading program assessment and curriculum maintenance.
  • Mentor undergraduate students, support career and professional development, and develop recruiting/outreach materials.
  • Provide service to department, college and university, including professional society participation.
Qualifications
  • Doctorate in agronomy or related field.
  • College/university teaching experience and emphasis on systems-thinking.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and experience with innovative undergraduate instruction.
  • Background in mentorship and student recruitment/retention.
  • Ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary environments with faculty, stakeholders and agencies.
  • Evidence of course development, deployment of innovative teaching techniques, and publication of pedagogy-related articles.
