Job Summary

The University of Kentucky College of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor in Behavioral Science to serve as the principal investigator on a federally‑funded research project or career development award. The successful candidate will design, oversee, and maintain research protocols that comply with University of Kentucky and NIH regulations, train personnel on experimental design and data interpretation, and manage standard operating procedures.

The role also includes front‑line data collection, grant proposal writing for intramural and extramural funding, manuscript development, conference submissions, and collaboration on grant proposals with faculty, staff, and students. No regular teaching duties are assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as principal investigator for federally‑funded research projects.
  • Design, maintain, and oversee research protocols in compliance with UK and NIH regulations.
  • Train research personnel on experimental design, procedures, and data interpretation.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures and quality control measures.
  • Collect and analyze front‑line data as required.
  • Write and submit grant proposals to secure intramural and extramural funding.
  • Develop manuscripts and submit to scientific conferences.
  • Collaborate on faculty grant proposals and submissions when appropriate.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Behavioral Science or related field.
  • Experience designing and managing federally funded research projects.
  • Strong research productivity and excellence.
  • Collaborative orientation and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with NIH funding mechanisms and grant writing.
