Nursing Faculty (FT) role at Sullivan University

HoursHours for the position are Monday–Friday, 8 am–5 pm, with the potential for evening and weekend hours for clinical teaching.
Responsibilities Of The Position Include- Instruction and Assessment of Student Learning:
- Within face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid learning environments, facilitates student learning, delivers career-relevant instruction, provides an environment conducive to learning, evaluates student learning for all assigned classes, and responds to student inquiries and grades all assignments in a timely manner.
- Engages students using instructional techniques such as collaborative learning, experiential learning, and/or problem-based learning.
- Delivers course curriculum developed by the direction of the Dean/Department Director/General Education Chair/Curriculum Specialist using the University’s learning management system.
- Participates in course and program level learning assessments; helps define student learning outcomes, administers measures, evaluates performance, and suggests changes to improve learning.
- Assists in development and revision of course maps and materials, including Open Educational Resources (OER) where appropriate.
- Schedules, supervises, debriefs, and evaluates students in clinical/externship/observation/field experiences as appropriate.
- Participates in student retention activities and communicates University services that support student success.
- Communicates availability (office hours) to all students via email, phone, or other contact methods.
- Scholarship and Professional Development:
- Participates in the annual faculty performance review process.
- Participates in the University’s Professional Development Program.
- Maintains currency in academic or program discipline, including attending conferences and maintaining licensure/certification where appropriate.
- Receives training to stay current in technological and pedagogical advances that promote student learning.
- Engages in scholarly activities as required (Graduate School faculty requirement where applicable).
- Reports all professional development activities in the designated system.
- Professionalism:
- Adheres to policies related to instruction and employment as specified by the Faculty/Staff Manual.
- Accurately records and reports student attendance according to policy.
- Submits grade books by the required due date following FERPA policies.
- Completes mandated compliance training as specified by Human Resources.
- Submits an updated vitae/resume annually as part of the performance review process.
- Full-time faculty are expected to participate in graduation ceremonies; adjunct faculty are encouraged to attend.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- MSN required.
- A minimum of two years' experience as a registered nurse. Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
- Knowledgeable and comfortable with active teaching methods and use of teaching technologies including AI.
- Excellent leadership, customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Ability to function efficiently in a stressful work environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel to multiple locations as dictated by the course schedule.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods and to move about the campus.
- Ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty, and staff in person or via electronic media (e.g., email, recordings, virtual meetings).
