Summary of Your New Position:
Thoroughbred is seeking a motivated, driven, and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for generating new work, expanding existing client relationships, and driving revenue growth. This is not an internal support position—this role owns growth, leads pursuits, and is accountable for results. The ideal candidate understands the AEC industry and is ready to take ownership of key markets and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients to drive new work and increase revenue.
- Identify and pursue opportunities that expand existing client relationships, including growing single-service engagements into multi-discipline service lines.
- Own the pursuit process from opportunity identification through contract execution.
- Collaborate with technical and marketing teams to prepare proposals, SOQs, and interviews.
- Lead teaming and partner development efforts.
- Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and conferences.
- Provide regular pipeline and revenue forecasting reports to leadership team.
- Support leadership in executing annual and long-term growth strategies.
- Serve as a trusted partner to technical staff in client development efforts.
Qualifications Needed for Your Success:
- Experience with business development, marketing, or client-facing roles in the AEC or professional services industry.
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships that lead to new work.
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Experience with proposals, SOQs, and interview coordination.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, accountable, and comfortable being measured by results.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities.
