Position: Part-Time Guest Services & Gift Shop Assistant (Weekend)

The Kentucky Aerospace Education Center, Home of the Aviation Museum of Kentucky, is seeking a friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Part-Time Guest Services & Gift Shop Assistant to join our team on weekends. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with the public, is interested in aviation and history, and wants to grow within a dynamic museum environment.

For the right candidate, this role offers the potential to transition into a full-time position within 3–6 months, with expanded administrative, educational, and operational responsibilities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors and provide information about museum exhibits, programs, and events
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to ensure a welcoming and memorable guest experience
  • Answer incoming phone calls, direct inquiries, and assist visitors as needed
  • Support daily museum operations and assist with administrative tasks
  • Process admissions, memberships, and gift shop sales
  • Handle cash, checks, and credit card transactions accurately
  • Restock merchandise, manage inventory, and maintain a clean, organized gift shop
  • Reconcile daily sales and ensure accurate financial documentation
  • Perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry
  • Maintain organized records, including visitor logs and sales reports
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and museum events
  • Prepare financial reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors in accordance with museum policies
  • Assist with special projects, educational programs, events, and museum initiatives as assigned
  • Ensure the front desk and public areas remain clean, organized, and well-stocked
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive hourly pay: $14–$16/hour

Note:
This is a part-time position consisting of three days per week. Must be available to work weekends and special events as needed.

Experience and Expectations
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Some college education is preferred
  • Previous experience in customer service, retail, or administrative roles
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment
  • Comfortable handling money and performing basic financial transactions
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed
