Overnight Veterinary Technician - Emergency

Overview

Blue Pearl Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Overnight Veterinary Technician to join our team in North Dallas, TX.

As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will work in a fast-paced environment alongside talented veterinary professionals. You will have opportunities to expand and grow your skills while delivering high-quality care to patients.

• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia in patients and use anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
• Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital, including obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
• Perform digital radiography using proper technique and patient positioning.
• Understand normal ranges of patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
• Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs; alert the Veterinarian to changes and issues.
• Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
• Calculate medical dosages and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy and place intravenous catheters in peripheral vessels.
• Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
• Mentor and train other co-workers.
• Show patience and empathy to address client concerns.
