- Review the district GIS to ensure protective device coordination, feeder load balancing, and compliance with Cooperative TNMP’s policies and procedures.
- Serve as engineering contact point for large accounts, managing system layout, creating necessary work orders, and coordinating required materials.
- Layout and create work orders for system improvement projects, work plan items, DOT projects, and other assignments.
- Maintain knowledge of critical loads (medical facilities, water/sewer facilities, police/fore, communication towers, schools, etc.) within the context of Emergency Operating procedures.
Personnel in this job title may be covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. If covered, candidates must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (identity verification and criminal background check) before hiring, promotion, or transfer. Unescorted access to cyber secure areas requires completion of cyber security training; annual training is also required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnder general supervision, plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates large and significant engineering projects and/or a number of small projects that are complex in nature. Functions as a staff advisor and consultant by performing the following duties:
- Provide diverse and advanced engineering and project management expertise for large and high-profile projects.
- Lead or conduct performance, cost, and scheduling studies that require advanced techniques or modifications of standard practices.
- Serve the operational areas with highly skilled and diversified expertise.
- Communicate engineering ideas, recommendations, and evaluations to diverse internal and external audiences.
- Represent the company’s interests in advanced engineering matters.
- Identify and resolve broad technical and/or organizational issues affecting company goals and objectives.
- Provide advanced technical support as a staff advisor or consultant to other associates.
- Apply extensive engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards.
- Guide contractors and company personnel on an as‑needed basis with advanced technical direction or activity supervision.
- Act as a lead for staff engineers, professionals, and technicians; provide training as appropriate.
Minimum
Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution plus five to seven years of experience. A Masters Degree is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Professional Engineer License in the State of New Mexico is preferred. Must possess a current, legally valid driver’s license and meet the company’s driving record requirements.
Communication
Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence; effective speaking before groups of customers, employees, and managers.
Computer
Skills:
Proficiency with personal computers and electrical engineering design programs; word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
Analysis and Problem‑Solving Ability:
Apply common sense to complex instructions; address problems with multiple variables in complicated situations.
Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, exposure to outside elements, lifting (≤50 lbs), crouching, bending, climbing, and working at various heights. Protective equipment required: hard‑hat, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Work Environment:
Time divided between office and field with majority in the office; work around high‑voltage electricity facilities, computers, office equipment, and construction equipment.
Salary Grade: G06 (Minimum: $78,537 – Max: $133,511)
Under general supervision, plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates engineering work for a project of moderate scope or detailed phases of a major project.
