Position: Day Camp Attendant - Camp PLAY (Summer 2026)

The City of Lewisville's Parks & Recreation Department is currently seeking Day Camp Attendants to be a part of a great team that serves over 100,000 community members. This is a seasonal position from May - September 2026.

Pay
  • Entry: $13.64/hour
  • Year 2: $14.14/hour
  • Year 3: $14.65/hour
  • Year 4: $15.15/hour
  • Year 5: $15.66/hour
  • Year 6: $16.16/hour
Responsibilities
  • Implements, monitors, and coordinates daily activities for the day camp program.
  • Assists with daily preparation of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, field trips, hikes and other activities.
  • Provides snack time and lunch set-up and clean-up.
  • Interacts with camp participants in a variety of recreational activities.
  • Ensures that daily camp activities are conducted in a safe, professional manner following all safety measures and protocols.
  • Communicates camp equipment and supply needs to the Day Camp Leader.
  • Maintains facility appearance during and after camp activities.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

Prior experience working with children and/or instructing day camp activities for children ages six to fifteen preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification upon hire.

Conditions of Employment

Must submit to and pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug test.

Other Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of: Recreational games, crafts, and activities; coordinating daily activities; supervising and interacting with children ages seven to twelve; working outdoors, sometimes in adverse conditions.

Skilled in: Accept responsibility and account for his/her actions; follow instructions, safety practices and standard operating procedures; supervise and interact with children ages seven to eleven; use good judgment regarding safety measures for planned activities; work outdoors, sometimes in adverse conditions; following instructions, safety practices, and standard operating procedures; communicating effectively, clearly, and concisely both orally and in writing; being punctual and attending work regularly;

working effectively with people regardless of their race, sex, color, religion, national origin, age, disability, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, veteran's status, genetics, or job type.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

This is primarily an office classification although this position involves a mix of office and outdoor responsibilities. Works primarily in an indoor environment, with frequent interaction with the public that will involve assisting individuals. May be exposed to varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) when setting up outdoor play areas. Work may involve occasional exposure to dust, noise, standing for extended periods and walking between locations may be required.

Finger dexterity is needed to operate a computer and other standard office equipment. While performing this job, employees routinely stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The position may occasionally require lifting or carrying supplies or equipment. Employees must regularly lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.

Typical daily lifting requirements for certain tasks range from 10 to 25 pounds.
