Animal Hospital of Lewisville is looking for a Lead Veterinary Technician / Assistant to help guide our team, elevate patient care, and support our doctors and staff in delivering exceptional veterinary medicine.

As a Lead Veterinary Technician / Assistant
, you will play a key leadership role in daily hospital operations while continuing to provide hands‑on patient care. You’ll support veterinarians during procedures, mentor team members, help maintain workflow efficiency, and serve as a resource for both staff and clients.

This role is ideal for someone who leads by example, communicates effectively, and is passionate about fostering a positive, supportive team culture.

Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and support veterinary technicians and assistants during daily operations
  • Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments, and surgical procedures, including proper animal restraint
  • Mentor and train team members to ensure consistent standards of care and hospital protocols
  • Perform and oversee medical tasks such as taking vitals, administering medications, and processing lab samples
  • Ensure accurate and thorough patient records, including treatment notes and logs
  • Maintain hospital cleanliness, including equipment sterilization, cage cleaning, and exam room readiness
  • Support smooth appointment flow and assist during emergency situations
  • Provide compassionate, professional client communication, including medication instructions and post‑care guidance
  • Answer client questions and assist with scheduling as needed
  • Collaborate with leadership on workflow improvements and team development initiatives
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year of veterinary medicine experience required (leadership experience preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients, doctors, and team members
  • Friendly, positive attitude with the ability to mentor and support others
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in a veterinary environment with potential exposure to infectious or contagious diseases
