Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Inpatient Rehab Team.

- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse License in the state of Maine; BSN preferred
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required
- One year of nursing experience
- Bilingual
The RN is responsible for managing individualized direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patients, promoting and restoring patients’ health through the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing exceptional patient experience by supporting and educating the patient and family throughout their hospitalization; functioning as the patient advocate while actively following a plan of care responding to changes in condition and/or response to treatments.
EssentialDuties
- Obtain nursing history, perform nursing assessment and develop plan of care for patients
- Perform a head‑to‑toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy; include adult, geriatric, general patient populations
- Demonstrate a time‑conscious awareness and ability to prioritize during high acuity situations
- Perform patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age
- Demonstrate knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition
- Follow the five medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors
- Assist physicians with procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills
- Start peripheral IVs and care for post‑surgical patients
- Treat patients and families with respect and dignity
- Identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and families
- Function as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers
- Interact professionally with patient/family and provide appropriate care and information based on patient status
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide age‑appropriate care to the patient population served
- Able to interpret data about the patient’s status to identify each patient’s age‑specific needs and provide necessary care
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces medical/healthcare errors
- Participate in performance improvement and CQI activities
- Consult other health team members and departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs
- Communicate appropriately and clearly to Director, Nurse Leader, Team Leader, Nursing Supervisor and co‑workers and providers
- Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments
- Documentation meets current standards and policies
- Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
- Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary
- Demonstrate ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
- Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in‑service meetings and workshops; show responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education
