Position: Total Rewards (Benefits) Specialist

Job Summary:

Selected candidate will have the choice of working out of St. Mary's in Lewiston or St. Joseph in Bangor.

Provides general benefits administration at one or more Covenant facilities. Communicates benefit information to employees and assists employees in resolving benefits questions. Responsible for roll‑out of System Well‑Being program at local facilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers; responds to and resolves benefits related questions and issues.
  • Implements and communicates system benefit initiatives such as annual benefits open enrollment, wellness initiatives, and vendor workshops at each facility.
  • Participates in new‑hire orientation programs; distributes benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes.
  • Performs quality checks of benefits‑related data; ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Responds to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Responds to retirement plan inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
  • Administers the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges.
  • Maintain Human Resource Information System records and compile reports from database. Prepare all required reporting and disclosure filings with the IRS, DOL, and others as necessary.
  • Ensure policies and guidelines are appropriate and administered consistently and in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws.
  • Participate in significant departmental initiatives. Maintain collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues.
  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health and the Catholic Health Ministry.
  • Other duties as consistent with this role.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Job knowledge and skills
  • Demonstrable commitment to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with managing and resolving issues with existing technologies
  • High attention to detail and customer service oriented
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Analytical and problem solving skills and excellent judgment a must
  • Advanced Excel skills, proficient in pivot tables, v‑lookups and charts and database management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Ability to work under pressure and challenging deadlines and adaptability and flexibility required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associates degree in Human Resources Management or similar field, Bachelor’s degree a plus (not required)
  • 2-3 years’ experience in Human Resources preferably in benefits capacity.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Normal office work environment. Automobile travel required

$54,484.55 - $81,726.82
