Make a difference using your bilingual skills. St. Mary’s is seeking a Medical Interpreter to provide accurate and confidential Spanish and/or Portuguese interpretation for patients, families, and clinical staff.
Comp Range: $23.76 - $32.72
Responsibilities- Provide accurate simultaneous and consecutive medical interpretation
- Support patient understanding in clinical appointments, procedures, and care discussions
- Deliver limited written translation of patient-related documents
- Maintain HIPAA compliance, confidentiality, and professional ethics
- Assist with Interpreter Services tasks such as reminder calls, data entry, and staff support
- 1+ year of medical or community interpreting experience
- Fluency in English + Spanish and/or Portuguese
- Medical interpreter certification preferred (CCHI, CMI, or accredited 40+ hour training)
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competency, and ability to work independently
- Knowledge of medical terminology, standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC), and HIPAA
