Overview

Promise Early Education Center, the Head Start of Androscoggin county, is always looking for applicants experienced in the field of early childhood education to sign on as per diem subs. We have classrooms that are open year round from the hours of 6:30 am to 5:30 pm. Substitutes are scheduled in a variety of ways. Some shifts are available the day of to fill in for unexpectedly sick staff members, while other shifts are booked well in advance to cover for vacation time or leave of absences.

The substitution position offers the flexibility to say yes or no; if you’re not available, you can let us know and we will move on to the next sub on our list. You will never be scheduled as a single teacher in a classroom and you will always work with a teacher who normally works in that class. That means there is always someone there who knows the children, their parents, and the classroom routine.

Promise Early Education Center is the foremost early learning program in Central Maine that is dedicated to educating the whole child and preparing that child for success in school and opportunity beyond. Our agency provides a safe, engaging, and empowering place for children to learn and grow; offers a results-driven educational curriculum taught by degreed teachers; and supports the engagement of parents and caregivers in their child s learning through partnership, communication and a commitment to the parent as primary educator.

Minimum Starting Pay of $19.91 per hour plus additional compensation.

Tier Levels and Monthly Supplement Amounts are listed below.

• Tier 1 — Maine Roads to Quality Registry Levels:
  Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4;
  Monthly Supplement: $240
• Tier 2 — Maine Roads to Quality Registry Levels:
  Level 5, Level 6;
  Monthly Supplement: $360
• Tier 3 — Maine Roads to Quality Registry Levels:
  Level 7, Level 8;
  Monthly Supplement: $540

Salary: $19.91 per hour.

• Work as a per diem substitute in early childhood classrooms.
• Collaborate with the classroom teacher and other staff members to support the children and maintain classroom routines.
• Be scheduled in a variety of ways, including day-of calls for sick leave or advance bookings for vacations or absences.
• Communicate with parents as appropriate and maintain engagement in children s learning.
