Job Summary- Assists in coordinating the activities between scheduling, insurance verification and pre-certification.
- Collaborates with a variety of personnel and departments to ensure smooth clinic operations.
- Pre-registers/registers patients with accurate patient demographic and financial data.
- Addresses co-pay, co-insurance, for scheduled appointment/procedure upon registration.
- Verifies coverage and ensures all insurance requirements are met, including obtaining prior authorization and referrals as needed before patient arrival.
- Stays current with insurance requirements.
- Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Assists with departmental coverage as needed.
- Manages daily appointment schedules, including reminder calls and referrals.
- Collects co-pays and performs co-pay reconciliation.
- Scans and accurately files documents, results, into the patient electronic medical record.
- Reviews the patient electronic medical record before appointments to ensure all required documents are in place.
- Establishes priorities and completes tasks in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- One year customer service experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- One year of medical office or related experience.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD9 coding.
- Understanding of insurance processes and regulations.
