LC State invites applications for the position of Nursing & Health Sciences Division Chair/Associate Professor.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: $100,000 - $105,000

Degree Requirement

Doctoral degree in nursing or related field from a regionally accredited college or university. (Master's degree in nursing is required if doctoral degree is in a related field.)

Required Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure or current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Idaho and Washington.
  • Eligible for or achieved the rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in nursing education, including curriculum development and teaching.
  • Demonstrated administrative or leadership experience in an academic setting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills.
  • A distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service in nursing education.
  • Evidence of experience with professional accreditation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of effective leadership for curriculum development, advising, eLearning, scholarship, budgets, and personnel.
  • Experience in student recruitment and retention.
  • Experience serving on leadership and cross-collaborative teams that foster effective partnerships within the institution and other higher education institutions.
  • Experience with the development of partnerships with healthcare sites in the region and the state.
Responsibilities

Position to begin July 1, 2026, or earlier based on mutual negotiation.

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Professional Studies, the Division Chair is responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision for the Nursing & Health Sciences division, overseeing program development, curriculum design, and instructional quality across all programs.

The Division Chair will recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate full-time, part-time, and adjunct faculty members and will foster a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth through mentorship, performance feedback, and support for continuing education and scholarship.

The Division Chair will develop and manage the division's annual budget, including oversight of expenditures, equipment purchases, and resource allocation, and will identify funding opportunities and prepare grant proposals to support program expansion and innovation.

The Division Chair serves as the Chief Nurse Administrator and will maintain accreditation standards for nursing and health sciences programs through relevant accrediting bodies, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, clinical partnership requirements, and institutional policies, as well as facilitate preparation of self-studies and host site visits as required.

The Division Chair collaborates with admissions, advising, and student services to support student recruitment, retention, and success, monitoring student learning outcomes, graduation rates, and licensure/certification pass rates, and implementing improvement strategies as needed.

The Division Chair develops and maintains relationships with healthcare facilities, clinical sites, and community partners to secure clinical placements, internship opportunities, and advisory board participation, and serves as a liaison between the institution and healthcare partners.

The Division Chair leads strategic planning initiatives for the division, including program expansion, new program development, and integration of emerging technologies and pedagogical approaches, and assesses workforce needs, aligning programs with regional healthcare demands.

The Division Chair participates in college-wide committees, prepares reports for administration, maintains program records, ensures effective communication across the division, and represent the division at institutional meetings and professional conferences.
