Northease Manor School is looking to recruit a Part-Time Cover Supervisor. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring person who will help nurture and support our young people with SEN.
Role
Purpose:
To:
- Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. The primary
focus when supervising will be to maintain positive behaviour and to keep the students on
task while accounting for their specific support needs.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff
- Assist teachers in the management/preparation of resources when cover is not required
- Provide support for students, the teacher and the school by utilising a good level of knowledge and class-based skills
- Support the inclusion of students in all aspects of school life
- Provide supervision at specified breaks and/or lunchtimes
- Provide cover for tutor sessions as required
- Actively promote the educational aims and ethos of the school which focus on holistic care, equality and inclusion
- An understanding of the challenges facing neuro-diverse young people and the desire to help overcome these challenges on a day-to-day basis
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- An effective and calm communicator
- A sense of humour, compassion and empathy
- An ability to work with calmness and empathy when under pressure
- Sound knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding.
- Ability to work effectively with, relate to, and earn the trust of young people, families and carers
- Ability to work effectively with, relate to and earn the trust of teaching staff, senior managements and external agencies.
- Committed to continuous professional development of self and others by keeping up to date and sharing knowledge, encouraging new ideas, seeking new opportunities and challenges, open to ideas and developing new skills
- Ability to self-motivate whilst working individually and as part of a team
- Training in relevant learning strategies (e.g. literacy)
- A working knowledge of school data systems or the willingness to undertake appropriate training
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Demonstrable levels of numeracy and literacy equivalent to GCSE (A-C) or NVQ level 2 (or by test)
- Understanding of positive behaviour management strategies.
