Job Description

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Financial Aid with all aspects of packaging and awarding financial aid while maintaining compliance with all federal and state regulations governing student financial aid. This position is on the Levelland campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Identify and award students financial aid in compliance with state and federal regulations.

* Identify and track students temporarily ineligible for financial aid.

* Work closely with third party verification team to ensure student files are completed in compliance with federal guidelines.

* Assist in the development of procedures for the effective and efficient packaging and awarding of both federal and state funds. Stay educated and informed about new federal and state guidelines.

* Evaluate weekly Pell disbursement report.

* Identify and assist in resolving over-awards.

* Run pending aid reports to identify qualified students whose disbursements need to be released.

* Change TIV credit eligibility for students unable to appeal non-satisfactory academic progress.

* Annually complete new academic year Cost of Attendance Budget

* Update and maintain Policies and Procedures manual

* Assist students, parents, and employees as needed.

* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions. Ability to effectively respond to questions from students, parents, and the public is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to manage a large work flow with little or no supervision. Must be a self-motivated individual with great attention to detail.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Required:

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred:

Prior Financial Aid Experience

Colleague Computer System experience

Computer proficiency

COMPUTER SKILLS

Computer skills including knowledge of current Microsoft Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suites especially Excel. Must have the ability to learn new software with ease.
