Pet Care Provider

Drive to the homes of clients to provide pet care. The position mostly involves walking dogs in all weather conditions. We also provide visits which includes playtime, giving fresh food & water, cleaning litter boxes, cleaning up any accidents, administering medication.
Potentially watering plants, taking out trash bins, picking up mail. Please refer to the list of services we offer, including the additional services.

Follow instructions and communicate with client in person or via notes in phone/tablet application.

OVERVIEW

Provide dog walking and pet sitting services out of the client's home. Must be comfortable walking and driving in all weather conditions. Must be able to walk large dogs (100+lbs) who may pull on lead. Must be reliable and able to work with little supervision.

AVAILABILITY

Looking for someone with availability during the day Monday to Friday and some weekends. Evenings as needed.

EDUCATION

Graduation from a Veterinarian Assistant or Technician program is a strong asset.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in the animal industry or equivalent is an asset. Experience in customer service is also an asset.

KNOWLEDGE

Solid knowledge of daily pet care. Strong knowledge of and ability to notice changes in pet behaviour.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Must love pets.

Must be compassionate, positive, and enthusiastic about animal care.

Must be dependable and reliable.

Must have a strong ability to work with little to no supervision.

Must be able to work and walk in all weather conditions for up to 8 hours.

Must be comfortable walking large, potentially excited, dogs.

Must agree to work some weekends, holidays and evenings.

Must provide a "cleared" Criminal Record Check.

Must drive an insured and reliable vehicle.

Must have a cell phone or tablet with a data plan.

Possess a strong ability to pay attention to details.

Have good communications skills.

Have moderate administrative skills.

Have good grammatical and spelling skills.
