Communications Specialist

The Potato Growers of Alberta (PGA) is a non‑profit potato grower organization that aims to increase the success of the potato growing industry in Alberta. To accomplish this, the PGA works on three fronts: education and extension, promotion, and research. The PGA is the voice of the potato industry in Alberta.

This is a unique opportunity to ensure that PGA maintains a positive brand image while fostering meaningful connections with members, partners, and the public.

• Strategic Communications & Brand Management
• Social Media & Website Management including Content Development & Engagement
• Newsletter Creation & Other Written Correspondence for Member Group
• Collection & Distribution of News, Events, and Updates Relevant to Growers, Consumers, & Industry Partners
• Stakeholder & Media Relations
• Subscription/Application Management
• Creation of Ongoing Photos & Videos for use both Online and in Print
• Assisting with Promotional Materials for Public Education & Outreach
• Other Duties as Required

• Post‑Secondary Education in a Related Program & 3‑5 Years of Practical Experience
• Team‑Orientated with Excellent Interpersonal Skills
• Excellent Written & Verbal Communication Skills with Strong Attention to Detail & Accuracy
• Graphic Design & Video Editing Experience
• Technically Savvy with a Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Apps, and all Social Media Platforms
• A Desire to Present the Message of the Organization to the Members and the Public
• Creative with an Eye for Detail while being Deadline Focused & Process Driven
• Valid Class 5 driver’s License and Reliable Vehicle
• Ag Experience/Knowledge Considered an Asset

• $55 000 - $60 000 annually based on experience
