Greenhouse Sanitation Worker

From $16.50 an hour - Permanent, Full-time

Schedule: Monday – Friday / Tuesday – Saturday, 2:30pm–11:00pm

Starting Wage: $16.50/hr

Robotic equipment is used ensuring that our many varieties of lettuce are untouched by human hands throughout their life cycle in the greenhouse. The greenhouse is located outside of Coaldale and we ask that individuals have reliable transportation to and from work.

The Greenhouse Sanitation Worker’s primary focus is to keep all areas of the greenhouse and the equipment within a clean and orderly condition. Additionally, Greenhouse Sanitation Workers observe, report, and correct issues of food safety (pest sightings, potential contaminations, etc.).

• Use approved chemicals to sanitize equipment, machinery, and food contact surfaces
• Pressure wash and scrub surfaces and equipment
• Sweep and mop floors; dispose of waste
• Ensure plant gutters are in A/B sequence after on the job training
• Adhere to safety policies (OHS and Food Safety)
• Additional tasks as assigned/necessary

• Ability to understand spoken English
• Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate safety labels on chemical containers
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team

• High school or equivalent
• Sanitation experience is an asset
• WHMIS certification is an asset
• First aid certification is an asset
• Forklift experience/certification is an asset
• Tractor loader experience/certification is an asset

• Must be able to work in hot and humid climates found in greenhouses
• Hours may be irregular and in excess of 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, work outside of ordinary office hours (including weekends and holidays) may be required

• Safely lift up to 50lbs
• Stand and walk for up to three hours at a time
• Climb ladders and stairs regularly
• Crouch and kneel regularly
