The University of Lethbridge is seeking a collaborative leader to join our Campus Safety & Risk Management Services team as Manager, Emergency Management & Business Continuity. This new position plays a critical role in ensuring institutional readiness for disruptive events and supporting the continuity of academic, research, and administrative operations. Key Responsibilities- Program Development & Planning.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the University’s Emergency Management and Business Continuity frameworks.
- Conduct Business Impact Analyses ( BIA ) and risk assessments to identify critical functions and recovery priorities.
- Align programs with institutional risk priorities, provincial standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Training, Exercises & Engagement.
- Design and deliver emergency preparedness and continuity training for faculty, staff, and students.
- Lead scenario-based exercises and simulations to test institutional readiness.
- Promote campus-wide awareness through outreach initiatives and workshops.
- Conduct post-incident and post-exercise evaluations to identify improvements.
- Monitor program performance and report findings to senior leadership.
- Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in emergency management and business continuity.
The University of Lethbridge is undertaking a job classification and compensation review for Administrative Professional Officer ( APO ) positions. As such, the salary range currently assigned for this position may be adjusted as a result of this project.
Position QualificationsEducation: Minimum:
Education Bachelor’s Degree – Emergency Management, Risk Management, Public Safety, Security, or a related field. Preferred:
Master’s Degree – Disaster and Emergency Management, or a related field.
Years of
Experience:
Minimum: 3 + Years. Preferred: 4-7 Years. Experience in a post secondary, public sector or complex multi-stakeholder environment.
Certifications / Professional Designations: Minimum:
Associate Business Continuity Professional ( ABCP ) or equivalent certification. Preferred:
Certified Emergency Manager ( CEM )/Certified Business Continuity Professional ( CBCP ) or equivalent certification.
The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.
SalaryStarting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $65,153.16 - $81,963.08 annually
Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $65,153.16 - $98,772.99 annually (APO - Grade
3)
