Cleaning Services, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic

The Caretaking Department requires the services of approximately 4 casual Facilities Operation 3 hires to start work in mid April to August 2026. Reporting to the Manager, Caretaking Services, this position is responsible for janitorial work. Janitorial work includes but not limited general cleaning, and recycling. This position will assist with the completion of minor maintenance projects and operating cleaning equipment.
This position is responsible to fully clean residence apartments for move out. Also, this position will work in the Lux hotel cleaning rooms, setting beds, cleaning laundry, folding and doing inventory of linen.
Hours of work are 6am-2pm and can also work weekends when required. Hours are subject to change with a 7 day shift change notice.
Hourly Rate: $19.22/hour
The successful candidate will have a high school diploma and at least 12 months of related work experience.
We are looking for high energy, goal orientated individuals who can demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Reliable, positive, and detail oriented with excellent time management skills
- Hotel and/or move out apartment cleaning experience (asset)
- Effective English reading, verbal, and written communication skills at the appropriate level for the position
- Experience with heavy duty cleaning procedures and commercial cleaning equipment (desired)
- current WHMIS certification (asset)
- Ability to perform physically demanding work safely and efficiently (bending, twisting, climbing stairs, pushing, pulling, regular lifting of 10 kg, occasional lifting of 25 kg) using a battery back vacuum.
- A proven ability to maintain effective working relationships and provide quality customer service
- Standard first aid and CPR certification (desired)
- Some experience with supervising (asset)
- The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
